Parishioner Donna Martin was recently honored by the Diocese for her service to our parish with the St. Agnes Service Award. Msgr. Maniscalso's weekly letter for the November 5, 2017 bulletin provides details as follows:

"Last Sunday the weather “celebrated” the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Sandy with another violent storm, but inside St. Agnes Cathedral it was all sunshine as parishioners from around the diocese were honored with the St. Agnes Medal of Service for their contributions to their individual parishes. It is probably the happiest diocesan occasion of the year, as devoted parishioners, whose efforts are absolutely essential to a parish’s achieving its goal of being a true community of faith and service, receive the recognition they deserve. Donna Martin was awarded the medal by Bishop Barres for her contributions to our parish. Donna has been one of our most active and involved parishioners. Until recently, Donna chaired our parish Liturgy Committee and was our Eucharistic Ministers Coordinator for many years. Donna continues to volunteer in our Human Services Office and is a greeter and funeral Mass planner in our Ministry of Consolation. She is also our Prayer Shawl coordinator which means that she oversees the creation of these shawls by our parish knitting and crocheting group and their distribution to sick and grieving members of our parish. Donna is also instrumental in the decoration of our chapel at Christmas and Easter and throughout the year. All these activities demonstrate what a truly dedicated and devoted parishioner Donna is. We all owe her a debt of gratitude and extend to her our congratulations."
