Protecting God's Children

Our diocese requires that we register all parish volunteers so that we can serve those in our care responsibly and effectively. Volunteers should be aware of the Diocesan Child Protection Policy (click here). You can begin to volunteer once you have submitted the three signed, dated forms found below together with your proof of VIRTUS Training attendance to the Parish.

  • Volunteer Service Request Form
  • Volunteer Screening Consent and Disclosure Form (Background screening)
  • Signed Code of Conduct

  • Certificate of Attendance at VIRTUS

You may register for your VIRTUS Training online. Please CLICK HERE  for the link to the VIRTUS web site. You can click on "First Time Registrant" to view a list of sesions being offered around the Diocese -- you can take the course at any parish, you do not have to take it here at St. Thomas -- just be sure to keep a copy of your certificate for your records. If you have any questions please call the rectory.

All material will be used only to determine a potential volunteer's suitability for ministry. It will not be associated with any other parish records, and will not be used by the parish for any other purpose, nor shared with anyone without the person's written consent. Only the pastor and professional staff (priests, deacons, directors and associate directors of parish ministries) have access to confidential material, and only to the degree that it is needed to establish suitability for ministry.
