Mike Durso's Ordination & First Mass
At 2:00PM today, September 23, parishioner Mike Durso will be ordained a deacon at St. Agnes Cathedral.  You are invited to watch live on Catholic Faith Network.  This Sunday, September 27, Deacon Mike will celebrate his first Sunday Mass at Noon in the Main Church.  At this special Mass of Thanksgiving, Holy Communion will be distributed at its usual time rather than after Mass has ended.  (At all other Masses, Holy Communion will be distributed during Mass starting October 3-4.  Click here for details.) Blessings of Backpacks and Catechists
Attention all students!  Be sure to bring your backpack to Mass this weekend, September 19-20 for a special blessing to start the new school year!  All catechists are also invited to come receive a special blessing to begin this new year. 1.) Beginning September 12, confessions will be heard on Saturdays from 11:00AM until Noon in the Parish Center (downstairs from the Main Church) rather than in the Auditorium.  Confession also can be heard at another time by appointment (516-489-8585). 2.) Opportunities to Offer Support

Distribution of Holy Communion at Mass
The Diocese has told parishes that distributing Holy Communion may be returned to its customary place in the Mass, but it is not a requirement.  Opinions were divided among the parish clergy and re-opening committee whether St. Thomas should do so right away.  Obviously, the distribution must be returned to its proper place eventually.  However, the problems this creates in the present circumstances include: people will be more likely to come into face-to-face contact as they return to their pews; distributing Holy Communion after Mass helps to e...

School Supplies:  Thanks to numerous donations, we were able to buy Staples gift cards for the school children of our families in need.  They were extremely grateful!   Food Pantry:  Parishioner Caitlin Bowe, Director of Community Engagement for Drive Out Hunger, Inc., along with President, Molly Miskiewicz, donated  bags of pantry items they collected from people unable to go out and directly donate to our pantry.  They have created this program as a result of COVID and have grown to include Nassau/Suffolk and Upstate NY.  All these...
