Concerning the Distribution of Palms (April 1, 2020):

Pastors have received the following instruction from the Diocese: "Do not plan to distribute Palms or make them available. There is no way to safely do this and guarantee that crowds will not form or that the virus will not be passed on amidst the palms. If possible, hold the blessed palms for possible distribution after the crisis has ended."

In this parish we have canceled our order of palm. We plan if possible to bless palm and distribute it in September in connection with the Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.

From Msgr. Maniscalco (March 22, 2020)

We regret not being able to serve you here at St. Thomas as we have in the past. Because of the difficulty of keeping such large areas as our church, lower church and chapel continually sanitized, they are currently closed. The diocese has notified pastors that no further liturgies are permitted until further notice. This includes funerals, weddings, baptisms, and any other cause for gathering people together in church. Wake services should no longer be conducted. Burial services may be offered preferably at the grave site, while observing all safe distance precautions. Memorial Masses for your loved ones can be celebrated in the future when these restrictions no longer apply. Confessions are on a case by case basis when they are urgently needed, observing safety health precautions. Anointing of the Sick and the Last Rites must also be celebrated following these precautions. Let us pray for each other and for the end of this crisis. God bless you and stay well.

The Catholic Ministries Appeal for 2019 has begun...
If you have given in the past, we thank you for your generosity and hope that you will donate again.  If you have not given in recent years, please consider making a gift this year as so many of our neighbors are in need.

St. Thomas' goal for 2019 has been set by the Diocese of Rockville Centre at $111,000. Once we reach our targeted amount our parish will receive back a percentage of the total donated. Last year our parish exceeded our goal and received a meaningful rebate to help fund programs right here in our parish.
