Human Services Update

Posted on July 31, 2021 in: General News

It's hard to believe summer is almost over and children will be returning to the classroom soon! You can help provide the school age children in need in our community with the tools they need to start the school year by donating school supplies. The items needed can be found in the bulletin or by clicking here. Please bring donations to Human Services by Monday, August 16, to enable our clients to pick-up what their children need before school starts. Thank you, as always, for your generosity and support!

The Nassau Library System is pleased to announce Wi-Fi Whenever, free outdoor wifi available 24/7 at 25 libraries and partner organizations. Residents can participate in virtual education, employment applications, job interviews, telehealth, and videoconferencing around the clock. It is especially valuable for those who do not have strong connectivity at home. Local participating libraries include the West Hempstead, Franklin Square and Hempstead Public Libraries. Simply join the wifi network called ‘WiFi Whenever’.  Additional locations can be found at WiFiWhenever.org.

The pantry is currently in need of:
  • Tomato sauce & canned tomatoes
  • Mixed fruit
  • Small oil, sugar and flour
  • Toothpaste & deodorant
  • Shampoo & conditioner
  • Liquid laundry & dish detergent
Stop & Shop gift cards in small denominations enabling clients to purchase perishables, and fast food gift cards for our shelter clients are always welcome. We are also in need of Metro-cards for our transient clients. (Metro-cards can be purchased at Franklin Pharmacy.)
Please note – All donations must be brought to Human Services.
