Bible Reading Classes Begin Soon!

Posted on September 04, 2017 in: General News

When: Mondays, Sept. 25 through Dec. 4 (10 weeks, except Columbus Day)
Time: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Where: Parish Library

What: Luke-Acts. The two books written by St. Luke -- his Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles -- present a panorama of God’s saving work beginning in Jerusalem with the foretelling of the birth of John the Baptist to the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ by St. Paul in Rome, the capital of the known world. “The word of God is living and effective, sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even between soul and spirit, joints and marrow, and able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart.” Hebrews 4.12

The sessions will emphasize reading the sacred text to absorb the power present in the Word of Scripture. Reading will alternate with discussion of the text. Bibles will be supplied so that everyone is literally “on the same page.” Returning participants from the sessions on Genesis & St. Matthew’s Gospel last spring are requested to bring with them the Bibles given out at those sessions. The only requirement is a willingness to share in reading the text aloud.
