On Saturday, February 25th at 4:30pm, Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish will prepare for the beginning of Lent with rites that will produce the ashes that will be put on the foreheads of the faithful on Ash Wednesday, March 1st.

The ashes are produced by burning the palms which were blessed during the previous year’s celebration of Palm Sunday.  Parishioners are asked to bring their palms to the church and chapel vestibule any time before the ceremony and deposit them into the basket provided.  Alternatively, parishioners are also invited to bring their palms to the church to be burned at the time of the ceremony.

The ceremony will begin in front of the Monsignor Smith Auditorium on Saturday, February 26, 2017, at 4:30pm.  After the ceremony, the Presider together with the people, will process towards the Church.  The 5pm Mass will then continue in the usual manner.  Hope to see you there.
