Virtual Lenten Garden 2021

Our Virtual Lenten Garden is in full bloom!

One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed (Proverbs 19:17)

Lent is a period of preparation to celebrate the Lord's Resurrection at Easter. During Lent, we seek the Lord in prayer by reading Sacred Scripture; serve by giving alms, including our time and talent; and practice self-control by fasting.  This Lent, we have joined together in remembering those who bear a cross, physical or economic, every day.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Lenten Living Trees were replaced this year by this Virtual Lenten Garden.  We thank the many parishioners who planted a 'corporal work of mercy’ flower in the Virtual Lenten Garden by donating a pantry item and watered the flowers in the Virtual Lenten Garden with a ‘spiritual work of mercy’ donation, guided by this list of corporal and spiritual works of mercy suggestions.

During Lent, St. Thomas the Apostle Human Services received 90 bags of pantry items, $1000 in supermarket gift cards and $900 in financial donations, enabling us to provide 20 families with food and gift cards for their Easter meal, and complete their celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord.

We wish you and your families a blessed and holy Easter!
