20th Annual Community Food Drive

The West Hempstead Franklin Square Association of Girl Scouts' Twentieth Annual Community Food Drive will take place February 27th – March 12th.  Collection bins will be found in the Church and Chapel during this time period.  The food collected will be donated to St. Thomas the Apostle Human Services and Long Island Cares.

Long Island Cares, Inc., was founded by the late Harry Chapin in response to the problem of hunger and poverty on Long Island.  This is the only regional food bank serving Nassau and Suffolk Counties by providing emergency assistance.  Member agencies include, Homeless Shelters, Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, Group Homes, Day Care Centers, Rehabilitation Centers, and Senior Nutrition Sites.

Girl Scouts will be at Masses on February 19th and 26th handing out bags which can be filled with food, as well as flyers about the food drive.
