On Sunday, November 4th Msgr. Alesandro was awarded the Immaculate Conception Medal by Bishop Barres at the annual Te Deum Dinner held at the Seminary in Huntington.  Read below Msgr.' Maniscalco's letter regarding this award:

"Last Sunday evening Msgr. Alesandro was awarded the Immaculate Conception Medal by Bishop Barres. This award was established in 2014 to be given annually to a senior priest “in recognition of the special qualities of fidelity and commitment to a life time of dedicated priestly service” shown by the awardee. Surely no priest in our diocese is more deserving. Msgr. Alessandro, whose 50th anniversary of priestly ordination we happily celebrated here a year ago, was ordained a priest in St. Peter’s Basilica, Rome, on December 17, 1966, and his first priestly assignment was here at St. Thomas where he returned in 2011 not only to reside but also to take an active part in parish life.  

Msgr. Alesandro has served our Diocese in many capacities, including Vice-Chancellor and Chancellor, Vicar General, Episcopal Vicar, Moderator of the Curia and Vicar for Administration.  He served as Administrator of the Diocese 2000-2001. He resided for over 30 years in St. Joseph’s in Garden City where he was also active in parish life, and he was pastor of St. Dominic’s, Oyster Bay, from 2002 to 2008. As an educator, Msgr. Alesandro has served as an Adjunct Professor and Distinguished Lecturer, The Catholic University of America, Adjunct Professor, Fordham Law School, an Adjunct Professor at both St. John's University Law School and Molloy College, Rockville Centre. He holds a doctorate in Canon Law from the Gregorian University, Rome, and a J.D. from St. John's University Law School.
